GwYn’s Wish
writing her TALE
Gwyn’s Make-A-Wish® wish was to author and publish a children’s book. A book lover and reader, Gywn has always loved going to the local library and writing and illustrating her own books. Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana arranged for her to meet with the Kentucky-based writer and illustrator team of Linda Hager Pack and Pat Banks, who have mentored Gwyn in the process of authorship. She then worked with her cousin Gina McColl who used Gwyn’s drawings as the inspiration for the illustrations in the book. Bulter Books of Louisville, KY is the publisher of the book.
make-a-wish
Gwyn chose Make-A-Wish® Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana to receive proceeds of the sale of Drippy: The Tale of the Sad Rain Cloud. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that helps fulfill the wishes of children with a critical illness between the ages of 2½ and 18 years old.
“My dad would always read us stories and that would bring me a lot of joy. And so I wanted to bring others the joy of having good stories read to them,” says Gwyn. “I like Make-A-Wish because they help achieve goals that maybe might not get fulfilled any other way, for kids with medical problems.”
