Our Author

Gwyn is a sister, daughter, dreamer, and author.

Gwyn is 11 years old and lives in Kentucky. She lives in a 1935 farmhouse with her mom and dad, and two sisters. Her favorite subjects are history and writing. Gwyn loves to run around and be crazy, play board games, and be mischievous.

Gwyn was diagnosed with brain cancer—glioblastoma of the thalamus—in November 2020 at the age of nine. Even before this life-altering diagnosis, Gwyn always loved reading and being read to, and often tried her hand at writing and making her own books.

It’s okay to be sad

About nine months after her diagnosis, Gwyn expressed her desire to become an author of a children’s book, something that Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana has made happen. She has enjoyed learning through the process of editing, revising, working with an illustrator (cousin Gina McColl), and publishing her book.

“Drippy is about two things,” says Gwyn. “It's okay to be sad. Because sadness is a very healthy emotion. And everyone can find a way to help others. Drippy feels sad about the whole community not wanting her, but finds out that the farmer needs help with his crops.”
